We have hit an amazing milestone as a charity, Ditch the Label is now 10 years old! It’s been quite the ride, and there have been so many great things that we have accomplished.
It’s almost impossible to limit ourselves to just 10 things that the charity has done over this time, but we’ve tried our best and here a few highlights over the 10 years of Ditch the Label!
1) This website reached 1 million visitors in a single year
Our website reached 1 million visitors in 2016 – since then we average over a million visitors every year! That’s a lot of young people getting help from all our content and our wonderful online community.
2) We’ve worked on over 45 different policies for young people.
We have contributed to the United Nations and European Union consultations. How awesome is that?!
3) We made a massively viral video!
Our video called ‘Are you living an Insta lie’ smashed over 20,000,000 views just on youtube! (DW -We’re working hard on creating the next viral hit for you guys).
4) Community Launch!
We launched our online community back in 2017, and since then it’s grown to over 10,000 members!
5) We launched our awesome Education Hub!
In Sept 2019 we created a place where teachers can download lesson plans and toolkits for help to teach you guys the important stuff – in an interesting way! Since it’s launch, we’ve had over 29,000 downloads! Madness!
6) We became a Youth Charity!
We started as an anti bullying charity 10 years ago, but in 2020 we became a youth charity! What does this mean? It means that we focus on all things that affect young people – not just bullying!
7) Our Annual Bullying Surveys
We’ve done a report every year apart from 2021 (due to the pandemic). But these reports make big splashes in the news – due to the in depth research into life as a young person today.
8) Our ‘pinch me’ moment?…..
It’s too hard to pick one… but we think when our Founder and CEO Liam Hackett represented Ditch the Label by speaking at the Commission on the Status of Women. This is the annual flagship event of the UN on gender equality. This is their 2nd largest gathering after the General Assembly!
9) Our favourite policy moment….
One of our favourite policy moments (It’s difficult to nail down one as many of the projects are ongoing). But we think that being invited to speak in the UN (twice!) and write for their magazine was a big one.
10) Celebrating our 10th Birthday!
We’ve achieved so much in such a short space of time. We are SO PROUD to of reached this milestone, and can’t wait to see what the next 10 years hold!
