6 Fathers Day Ideas that Won’t Break the Bank

So this Sunday is Father’s Day and we know how expensive the perfect present can be. If you’d completely forgotten then do not panic because, here at Ditch the Label, we’ve compiled a list of thoughtful things you can do for Dad that will mean a lot more than a price tag. We know, we’re the best. You can thank us later.

1) Cook Their Favourite Meal

Who doesn’t love food? We reckon someone cooking you your favourite meal must be one of the most heart-warming and belly-filling feelings you can get; so imagine giving that to someone you love. Also, it’s scientifically proven that having somebody else cook your food makes it taste better which means you have even more of a chance for Dad to think you’re a great chef.

2) Make Them a Personalised Card

Cards are a pretty classic part of any big day and so finding one that feels personal can be almost impossible. Instead of endlessly searching for the perfect card to sum up how you feel, why not make one instead? You can cover it in pictures of your favourite memories together and write an honest message to say how grateful you are for everything Dad does.

3) Watch Their Favourite Film

Sit Dad down, grab some popcorn and put on their number one flick and we promise it’ll put you all in a great mood. It’s said that if you really watch someone’s favourite film then by the end of it you’ll understand them a lot better. And hey, if it’s a series then why not make it into a movie night and watch the whole lot?

4) Help to Take the Weight Off

It’s no lie: the little things add up. Sometimes, a great gift can be to lend a hand to whatever odd jobs Dad may have to do. It might be unloading the dishwasher so you can tick it off the to-do list, or helping out with a project Dad’s been doing for a while. Completing a task together can really strengthen a bond between the two of you. Even if it’s something as simple as making them a cup of tea when they get in from work; we’re sure they’ll be grateful for the help.

5) Choose a Thoughtful Gift

Gifts don’t have to be expensive. In fact, the best presents are usually the ones that have had the most thought put into them. Maybe they’ve been mentioning it a couple times or perhaps it’s something you just know they’ll love. Whatever it may be, try going with the sentimental option over the one you think will mean more because it’s more expensive. If you’re going to spend, spend some time thinking first.

6) Spend Some Quality Time Together

A gift that is rarely given fully is our time. How often do we go on Instagram or Facebook rather than appreciating being with our friends or family? One of the best things you can give your Dad this year is a bit of quality time, whether it be going to watch a local sports team, going to the park for a family picnic or taking part in something they love doing; giving your undivided attention can be a meaningful way to show you care.
